Pronto Pollo Scone Pizzas

It is no surprise that pizza is a number one favorite with consumers nationwide. Millions of Americans consume pizza on a daily basis, especially when out at an event, such as a fair, carnival, sporting event, stadium, and concert. Pizza is an appealing favorite because of its mouth-watering smell and delicious eye-appeal. People have fallen in love with pizza, time and time again, because it appeals to all of the senses at once.

There are three different types of pizza concession stands: pizza merchandiser cabinet, countertop oven, and conveyor oven. Which one you choose will depend largely on the amount of space that you have in your concession stand. For example, a pizza merchandiser cabinet is much smaller than a large conveyor oven. In order to choose the right concession stand equipment, you must be familiar with the three types of pizza stands.

The Excitement of a Pizza Conveyor Oven

A pizza conveyor oven is a terrific way to grab the consumer’s attention, creating a higher amount of foot traffic to your concession stand. A conveyor oven usually costs approximately $1800 dollars, and it is capable of producing over 30 nine inch pizzas in an hour, or 14 twelve inch pizzas per hour.

A pizza conveyor oven is recommended for a mid-level concession stand. The conveyor oven is an economic, versatile, and compact way to increase the amount of menu offerings at a concession stand. Also, this type of pizza concession stand usually yields the highest profits. In just eight to ten minutes, customers can enjoy a piping hot, mouth-watering pizza.

The Convenience of a Pizza Countertop Oven

The pizza countertop oven is designed to service a snack bar or a mid-sized concession stand. This type of concession equipment is designed to cook two eight inch pizzas at once, or one sixteen inch pizza. One of the major benefits of having a pizza countertop oven is the fact that it can also cook cookies, pretzels, pastries, and other precooked items.

The pizza countertop oven is more compact and versatile then a conveyor oven. A smaller pizza countertop oven, perfect for handling mid-level trafficked events, costs approximately $1200 dollars. There are several wholesale retailers that may offer a discounted price on any type of pizza concession stand equipment.

The Appeal of the Pizza Merchandiser Cabinet

A pizza merchandiser cabinet is one of the most eye-appealing and attractive ways to draw the consumer’s attention to your pizza stand. A common pizza merchandiser cabinet is capable of holding a sixteen inch pizza. This type of concession stand equipment is priced around $900 dollars.

The pizza merchandiser cabinet works with a special humidity system that maintains the temperature of the product. A mid-sized merchandiser cabinet can hold up to three pizzas. A pizza merchandiser cabinet is the perfect, compact way to showcase pizza at a fair, carnival or a snack bar. Its visual appeal draws customers to the booth with its lighted displays.

These are three most popular types of pizza concession stands. Your choice depends on the amount of space and budget which constrains you. If you want to produce high volume, larger pizzas, then the conveyor oven is the perfect choice. However, all three can be great options that increase the volume of your concession stand.

Just like the pizza baked in a wood-burning oven, grilled pizza is deliciously smokey and very easy to make. Most people do not own a wood-burning stove, but do own a grill, making grilling pizza convenient and possible to do in most households.

Grilled pizza makes a perfect appetizer for a barbeque party. As it is always a good idea to feed your guests something before the big event, they can sip on drinks while enjoying small pizza slices hot off the grill. You will notice how it keeps the curious from opening the grill lid while the main dish is being cooked later on.

This method of grilling pizza is simple, and makes great grilled pizza, whether cooking on a charcoal or gas grill. Because of the ability to control the heat more accurately, this pizza grilling method is a little easier on a gas grill. But great results can be had on a charcoal grill, also.

Be sure to expect some failures. It happens sometime. Try grilling pizza for close family first, then make it for friends. Once you get the techniques of grilling pizza down pat, the pizza delivery person might as well forget about showing up at your house ever again.

The pizza grilling process relies on the ability to use indirect heat. With one burner (or the side where the charcoal is, if using that) on high, the dough (homemade pizza dough recipe below) is placed right on the grill rack, grilled face-down for a short time, then flipped right-side-up, ready for the toppings.

Place Pizza stone (if desired…You can also place pizza directly on the grill) on the “cooler” side, close, the lid, and Let the stone get hot (about 10 minutes). Place the pizza on the hot stone and close the lid. Check the pizza every 5 minutes to make sure it does not burn. It should be ready in about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on your grill temperature and thickness of the dough.

It takes some practice and some timing on your part to get the crust just right, but you will. Have some patience, and in time it will be worth the effort!

Homemade Pizza Dough

Unlike many pizza doughs and pizza dough recipes, this one does not require refrigeration for easier handling. Once the pizza dough is prepared and frozen for later, you can come home from work and have delicious grilled pizza on the table by sundown (This pizza dough recipe can be prepared and frozen for up to 3 months. Just thaw it in the refrigerator overnight before preparation).

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups warm (105 to 115 degrees) water
1 package dry yeast
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil (plus some for the mixing bowl)
4 cups all-purpose flour

In a large bowl, mix together the water and the yeast, and let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in the salt, garlic powder, and olive oil. Stir in about 3 1/2 cups of the flour, until a soft dough is formed. Let the dough rise until it is light and puffy, or about 2 hours.

After kneading, punch it down and divide the dough into 4 portions. Wrap each portion tightly with plastic wrap, then freeze.

Thaw pizza dough in the refrigerator the night before grilling. Coat the thawed dough with oil, then let rise at room temperature. When doubled in size, roll out the dough into thin rounds, then add the toppings.

In this very hectic world, meal time can be such a hassle. It seems hard to squeeze in a balanced diet when you have to do so many things throughout the day. As such, people are always on the look out for quick meals that provide all the necessary nutrients in one bite. If this is the case with you, then you need not look further than the yellow pages. The complete meal has long been around that you are probably eating it more often than you notice. Still puzzled as to what this complete food is? It is none other than the pizza.

For many, pizza may just be a snack or junk food, a fattening substance of empty nutritive value. But contrary to this common notion, the pizza can potentially be a healthful meal that can be both filling and nutritious. While it is true that wolfing down six big slices of pizza in one sitting can definitely make one fat, eating it in the right amounts can just be as healthy as eating a serving of salad. What makes pizza so good is that it has all the food groups recommended by nutritionists and doctors for a proper nutrition.

Here is a run down of the types of food that can be found in most pizzas.

Pizza Has Grain

The basis of any pizza is the crust. It is the binder of the whole pie, where all the ingredients are situated. Crust is simply bread, which is usually made of flour. This is a rich source of carbohydrates which the body uses as fuel for its everyday function. The grain food group is also a good source of vitamins and minerals that are necessary for maintaining normal body processes. The pizza crust is also a source fiber, which is very necessary for maintaining the function of the digestive system.

Pizza Has Protein-Rich Foods

Pizza is rich in food products belonging to the meat group. The usual pizza can have pepperoni, Italian sausages, ground beef, ham and other meats. Some pizzas can even have chicken, veal, or lamb. These types of food are rich in protein, iron, and vitamin D, among many other vitamins and minerals. These nutrients are necessary for building muscle and developing tissue. These nutrients are also used for maintaining hair and skin.

Pizza Has Dairy Products

Aside from the crust, a typical feature of any pizza is the cheese. Nothing beats the chewy, oozing goodness of melted mozzarella on top of any pizza. Some pizzas even have other kinds of cheeses like cheddar, feta, and Gouda. Cheese, like other dairy products is rich in calcium and protein. Calcium is a necessary mineral for growing strong bones and teeth. It is also an important element for preventing diseases like osteoporosis.

Pizza Has Fruits

Another typical ingredient of a pizza is the tomato sauce. While most people would think that tomatoes are vegetables, it is basically a fruit. And like many nutritious fruits, tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, and other minerals. It is also a good source lycopene, which has been shown to help prevent cancer. Certain special types of pizzas also have other kinds of fruits. The Hawaiian style pizza has pineapple, which is another good source of vitamin C. Some Asian style pizzas have mandarin orange. There are even pizzas with avocado, which is a good source of essential fatty acids that increase the level of good cholesterol in the blood.

Pizza Has Vegetables

Pizzas also have healthy vegetables. Of course there is the vegetarian pizza that contains no meat and only vegetables. Such pizzas can very much be likened to salads and have almost the same, if not more nutrients. A pizza can have slivers of bell peppers. There can also be mushrooms. Some pizzas also have cabbage, lettuce, and other greens. Vegetables are rich in calcium, beta carotene, iron, and other vitamins and minerals.

Pizza has Oils and Sweets

Pizzas can be a good source of complex energy from fats. Authentic Mediterranean and Italian pizzas often have olive oil, which is known to be very good to the heart. Other types of oils may also be present depending on the type of pizza. Sweets can also be found in pizzas, especially those for kids.

Pizza Can Comprise a Complete Balanced Meal

If you are looking for a quick meal that is complete and healthy, then you may well be eating pizza. Of course like with any other food, it is best to keep everything in moderation. A slice or two would be fine for a meal, but a dozen may be too much. So the next time you order pizza for delivery, just be grateful for such a good and complete meal.

I am a big fan of pizza. I love it. In fact I would say it is my favourite food. But I am not talking about the kind that comes in a cardboard box, delivered by some 16 year old, who is trying to pay off his first car. I am talking about the kind of pizza that is made of fresh ingredients, the type of pizza you make yourself. Gourmet pizza. Gourmet pizza can seem like a lot of hard work, most people see pizza as a lazy food that you order when you are feeling too tired to cook. Well I want to change that perception. I want to get you thinking that pizza, is not lazy food, but a delicious meal you can cook for your self.

What makes a good pizza recipe?

Pizza is something that is very subjective. What might be my favourite pizza, might sound disgusting to you. The way I try to think of it is that if you love a food, then you can probably make a great pizza out of that food. For example, I love smoked salmon. I find it particularly tasty on a bagel with some cream cheese, pesto, and tomato. I took that concept and designed a smoked salmon pizza. The recipe involves cooking a thin base with pesto on top and adding all the other ingredients on top cold after. It is super tasty, and my favourite, however you have probably never heard of it before. That’s the great thing about gourmet pizza. You can get creative with the foods you love.

What about pizza bases?

There is a range of different types of pizza bases ranging from thin and crispy, to thick and puffy. I am a fan of the thin and crispy as I don’t like to full up on the base. You can buy pre-made pizza bases from most major super markets, but I wouldn’t recommend it. They are normally too thick, and tasteless. The real reward comes from making your own. You can make it by hand, just make sure you have some yeast, you can also use a bread maker. It does take a while to make bases, as the yeast has to rise in the dough.

How to cook your pizza?

Ok, so I have sold you on the concept, but you don’t know about cooking. Cooking pizza is just like cooking anything else. There are some accessories you can buy to make your cooking experience even better. My favourite is a cooking stone (or pizza brick), which is basically a flat stone manufactured specifically for cooking pizza. As the stone holds heat well it makes fantastic bases. If you are just cooking your pizza on a cooking tray, I recommend cooking the base for a short time before adding ingredients, otherwise there can be disasters where your ingredients are cooked, and your base is still doughy and uncooked.

Any other tips?

Ok, so you are ready to go. What else do I have to share with you? Firstly, as with any great cooking, fresh ingredients or using the correct ingredients is crucial. Sure you can make a great pizza out of leftovers in the fridge, but you can make an outstanding pizza worthy of any high street restaurant out of the best ingredients. My last advice would be to get creative. If ham and cheese is your thing then go to Pizza Hut or Dominos. My gourmet pizzas have some crazy ingredients in them; chicken, curry powder and yogurt may not sound like a nice meal, but they make a damn good pizza.

Pronto Pollo Scone Foods

I loved those blissful days when I could eat chicken at least six times a week and bask in the universally shared obsession for the tender white meat that never fails to delight. Who, in their right minds, can actually refuse a platter of breadcrumb-coated chicken fried in butter? And of course, like all crazy non-vegetarians, I whole-heartedly sympathised with vegans for missing the most divine of divine food.

Now, however, ever since my parents scrounged out a lunatic doctor, I’m not allowed broiler chickens, though of course I’m permitted free-range chickens. Free-range chickens, just in case you didn’t know, are those you see little children chase around in little farms in little villages or in somebody’s backyard. No, those chickens aren’t very tender, and sorry to say, they hardly have anything edible clinging to their unbreakable bones.

So I plunged into my own incredible and extensive research, which directed me to stumble upon why broiler chickens are more dangerous than the beef you try to avoid over hypochondriac health concerns. Right now, if somebody were to shove a plate of fried whole chicken into my hands behind my parents’ back, I would refuse it. And not because I’ve sudden growing health concerns, since for me health is never a priority over delicacy, but because I’ve just added a new item on my list of boycotts.

I boycott – and encourage others to boycott – broiler chickens, over purely humanitarian arguments.

Thanks to Science, a field my sister worships, unique breeding has made it possible to develop fatter and fleshier chickens, which aren’t even a semblance of comparatively emaciated free-range chickens. A Martian would seriously be under the impression that free-range chickens are ill-treated and underfed, were they to land on earth and see the two types of chickens. But, truth is, broiler chickens are ill-treated. These scientifically engineered chickens need only 1.7 pounds of grain per day to grow to their enormous size, whereas, a normal chicken requires 3 pounds of grains per day to grow to their remarkably puny size. The chickens we eat take only 35 days to attain slaughter-size, in contrast to the 90 days required by normal chickens. Their abnormally large amount of flesh cannot be withheld by ordinarily growing bones, which as a result become weak, soft, and malleable. They are virtually arthritic; they can’t really move about without snapping a leg into two painful halves. The deformed and unmovable bones warrant nothing more than a little penitentiary, where countless birdies are cooped up for no fault of theirs. Like the human’s heart that protests against obesity, the chicken’s heart and lungs also find it a mammoth task to keep up with the rapidly fattening body. Heart-attacks and accumulation of venous blood in body cavities are frequent, culminating in suffocation and unmourned deaths. I’m certain, your neighbourhood poultry will ardently dismiss these facts as bogus.

The cocks are in for bigger trouble. They are debeaked, detoed, and kept on perennial starvation because they are hyper-aggressive. Maybe castration of cocks isn’t literally possible, but figuratively, these surgeries are most certainly castration. Beaks are very important to cocks; how otherwise can they fight other predatory cocks? Of course, we don’t want a flock of murderous cocks, but it’s unfair to de-arm unintelligent creatures. Like feminism, chickens need cockism – a movement to protect the abuse of cocks based on gender.

Hurting hens and cocks is a sin we are all guilty of because it’s our craving that makes science more and more inhumane. And if you really don’t care how your food was mistreated when it was alive, though not kicking, then you must at least boycott it over health concerns. Broiler chickens are known to cause arthritis. The unhygienic environment they grow in is a major cause of salmonella and cyanobacteria poisoning. I think I’m wasting my energy typing this out, since most of us have seen how filthy the slaughterhouses are. It’s surprising we still consider chicken finger-licking goodness.

I find it terribly depressing that a cute little innocent chicken can’t move about because of arthritis and deformed bones. How painful it must be to suffer for a glutton, who demands to devour chicken from intimidating silverware and china. Interestingly, a fellow I know takes sympathy a step further. He doesn’t eat chickens over rumours that these birds aren’t privileged to pre-slaughter drinks of water, and it’s quite known that all animals seek water before giving out once and for all. This is the kind of person the world should applaud; not bomb-making, war-worshipping, animal-hating scientists.

It’s time to start planning your new chicken cage design. There are a number of layouts and floor plans to choose from, which can seem overwhelming. We’ll look at the different types of chicken pens plus their purposes.

Considering a few things beforehand can help determine what coop is best for your purpose. For instance: number of chickens, available space for construction, the need for portability. These are all important things to consider. For example if you want to move your coop around your yard for easy care and you only want a few chickens, a portable coop may best fit your needs.

Small Chicken Coops
Small coops work best with a minimum number of hens. Small chicken cages hold around two to six chickens. These small coops are used for keeping chickens as pets. Small coops are commonly constructed like little playhouses or sheds with fencing all around. This prevents the hens for escaping into your neighbor’s yard.

Mid-Sized Chicken Coops
Medium chicken coop designs are about the same as the small chicken coop designs except they hold more chickens. Mid-sized chicken houses can hold twice as many hens as small coops, but are still not large enough to raise chickens for profit. Whether from the chickens themselves or their eggs, the number of chickens you can raise in a small or medium pen will not produce enough of either to be profitable.

Small and medium sized cages are best if you plan to make them portable. If you choose to house numerous of hens but want a portable coop, build several mid-size rather than one large coop.

Large Chicken Coops
Finally the large chicken pen designs. The sky is the limit for the large coop. The building is planned to fit the number of chickens you wish to raise. The standard for the run is 6 sq ft per hen, but enthusiasts suggest 10 sq ft. That means that you would allow 200 sq ft of space for the run if you want to give shelter to twenty hens.

For urban dwellers a closed in moveable chicken cage is a respectable option. Closing in the henhouse area will prevent your chickens from becoming your neighbor’s pests, as well as decrease the chances of them getting loose and getting hit by passing cars or neighborhood pets such as dogs or cats. However, if you have your home in the country this is not as big of an issue.

Pronto Pollo Sandwiches

Growing up we all ate Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches, and we all loved them. The only problem with the sandwiches we ate was that they were made with:

1. White Bread – Eating white flour is similar to eating white sugar

2. Peanut Butter – High in sugar

3. Jelly – High in sugar

Below, I have a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich recipe that is healthier than the one Mom used to make and still tasty. It’s also relatively inexpensive.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

—2 slices of Nature’s Own 100% Whole Wheat Bread, or your favorite stone-ground whole wheat bread.

—1 tablespoon of Smucker’s Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter, or your favorite natural peanut butter.

—1 tablespoon of Smucker’s Low Sugar Grape Jelly, or your favorite low sugar jelly.

Instructions:

1. Spread peanut butter on one slice of bread

2. Spread jelly on other slice of bread

3. Combine the two slices

Facts:

—Cost per serving: 43 cents

—Calories per serving: 225 calories

—Protein per serving: 12.5 grams

—Carbohydrate grams: 32 grams

—Fat grams: 8 grams

—Sugar grams: 8 grams

—”Bad” Fat grams: 1 gram

Commentary:

I love this recipe and eat Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches often. These sandwiches taste great and are very easy to prepare. These sandwiches are also cheap and healthy because they are made with:

1. 100% stone ground whole wheat bread – the “stone ground” part is very important. It ensures you are getting all of the health benefits associated with whole grains

2. Natural peanut butter – filled with “good” heart healthy fats and no added sugar

3. Low Sugar Jelly – made with fruits, without all of the added sugar found in regular jelly or jam

If you are going to make these regularly, you should invest in a natural peanut butter mixer. Trying to mix it with a spoon can get messy.

Rye bread — you can buy this from most health food stores.
Nut butter — for example: Peanut Butter, Cashew Nut Butter, Almond Nut Butter, or Hazelnut Butter.
Carrot.
Lettuce or other green leafy vegetable (spinach, for example).

How to Make the Sandwich

Cut between 4 and 6 slices from the loaf of rye bread.
Spread the nut butter liberally on all of the slices of rye bread.
Grate the carrot, and then spread over the nut butter on all slices of the rye bread.
Place several leaves of the green leafy vegetable over the top of all the grated carrot.
Quickly flip the slices of rye bread together, being careful not to spill out any carrot or leafy vegetable. There you have it, 2 or 3 very healthy sandwiches for your lunch!

Non-starchy vegetables
